Melbourne in Lichfield Review

Melbourne in Lichfield

77/100 Working From Coffee Shops Score

You may have seen the not so inconspicuous yellow take-away cups in the hands of many dog walkers on a Sunday, well now you know where they are from! Melbourne in Lichfield have been dealing caffeine to the people of Lichfield for 6 years, and it’s not a bad spot to send some emails from either!

Seating

7/10

After a recent move around there are a lot more seating options, with a waist high bar running along the one wall, this makes for a perfect small space to throw a laptop on. The remainder is more of a social area, with low tables, which aren’t inviting to work from, something that was probably on purpose, and I’m all for it! There is also outdoor seating that is present all year round, but not fit for working from, but great to sit in the sun after your morning run.

Noise

7/10

Probably the best and most popular coffee shop in Lichfield, which of course draws a crowd. The busy background noise can speed up your productivity, but for calls and concentration, probably not the best place for you.

Wifi

8/10

71mbps. No dramas here, and a very creative password, I will let you discover that one for yourselves.

Coffee

10/10

Melbourne Lichfield serves the best coffee in Lichfield. Fact. Like most artisan coffee shops, they pour their heart and soul into the process, from bean to cup.

Plug sockets

6/10

It’s worth identifying where these are located prior to getting comfortable, and maybe ensuring you are fully charged.

Aesthetics

9/10

Want to feel like the main character in a movie? Put your coolest playlist on and keep your sunglasses on, whilst surrounded by graffiti covered walls and quirky seating, like old bus seats!

Food & Other Drink

7/10

With a menu boasting 3 pages of drinks, and seasonal food menu, there is plenty of variety, especially favoring the vegans and vegetarians.

Parking

7/10

Parking in Lichfield is frustrating, but bearing in mind Melbourne Coffee is fairly central, there is a Pay and Display carpark a few hundred metres away. If you prefer the free option and need to get your steps in, Tesco is only 15 minutes away.

Paws & People

8/10

If you are a dog spotter, this is the place for you, if not, then maybe it isn’t! Melbourne Coffee quotes that it ‘serves the beautiful people of Lichfield’, which isn’t far off the truth!

Opening Hours

8/10

Open Mon-Thurs for the early risers at 07:30am till 4pm, Friday and Saturday until 5pm, and Sunday hours are 08:am till 4pm.
